The International Design Award invites students all over the world to create forward-looking, innovative and unusual solutions in designing and making furniture for tomorrow.

Objective

Fostering talents and demonstrating trends and visions of tomorrow through fresh thinking – this is the declared objective of the International Design Award that is staged every two years by Hettich and REHAU as the companies holding it. The International Design Award also underscores the forward-looking approach to innovation management at both companies.

Competition assignment

The 2011 International Design Award is looking for interior designs as well as furniture concepts and systems that best meet the requirements of the next decade. The competition assignment relates to the three areas of living room and bedroom, kitchen as well as office workplaces. The adjudicators will be searching for innovative, multifunctional and creative designs that stand apart from classic applications. In terms of both design and technical intelligence, the solutions entered are to resolve the 'tug of war' in tomorrow's home and work environment.

The competition invites design students all over the world to create forward-looking, innovative and unusual solutions in furniture design and furniture-making.

Adjudicating panel

The adjudicating panel changes for each competition and is composed of international, well-known architects, designers and professors or university lecturers.
